Although questions remain about the funding for an extension of the existing U.S.-Mexico Border Wall, news reports indicate that U.S. Customs and Border Protection have picked the potential contractor finalists.

The Texas Attorney General, Ken Paxton, has indicated in a recent interview that he has no objection to the use of eminent domain by the federal government to acquire the property necessary for the proposed Border Wall.

Congress first passed an act authorizing the construction of a border wall between the U.S. and Mexico in the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act in 1996. That act required the construction of only 14 miles of fencing between San Diego and Tijuana.

Plans for the border wall between US and Mexico are moving forward. News reports indicate that at least some affected property owners have been contacted by the U.S. Department of Justice.
